DEWALT 20-Volt Max Lithium Ion (Li-ion) 1/2-in Cordless Drill with Battery and Soft Case

This drill is a beast. DEWALT products have never let me down, and so far this drill is no exception. First of all, it's an amazing deal. At nearly $90 for one replacement battery, even just the two 1.5mah batteries that this unit comes with should be more expensive than the whole kit. Instead for just over $100 you get two batteries, a fast charger, a soft case and the, of course, the drill. Frankly, if I had other DEWALT 20V tools, I'd buy this kit just for the batteries.

This drill is a no-nonsense drill. There are very few bells and whistles, just a workhorse powerful drill with great batteries. It's extremely small and lightweight, probably half of the weight I'm used to holding with normal NiCad battery drills. However,

after getting used to the lighter weight of the battery, it feels balanced and stable, with a good fit for my larger hands. But it has at least the same amount of punch of a bigger heavier drill, lasting longer with no fade. I love that this drill performs at 100% and dies quickly - the performance is strong until the end. And with the fast charger, by the time battery A is dead, battery B is fully charged and ready to go. The batteries also seem to hold their charge for indefinite periods of time.

One feature I like is the light (the one bell and/or whistle this drill has). I've had other drills with lights - that's nothing new. However, in a few different models, the light would only operate when the trigger was being pulled. If I'm lining up a bit or a screw in a circumstance that requires light, it's not easy to do if the drill is spinning. This light stays on for ~10 seconds after the trigger is released, allowing you to tap the trigger to engage the light, line up the bit or screw, and resume drilling/driving.

PORTER-CABLE 20-Volt Max Lithium Ion (Li-ion) 1/2-in Cordless Drill with Battery and Soft Case

I absolutely love this drill! the power is great and it even looks the part! very cool design! very science fiction looking! battery charges super fast I had the battery on the charger while I was reading the instructions and when I was finished reading them it was charged already!! that's pretty fast! only thing is this drill said it comes with the black hard case but when I received it, just a porter cable bag was there instead. was very disappointed with that so I told amazon customer service about the error and they are refunding me some money for the error wich is very nice of them to do!!.no real big deal though that bag is also pretty decent fits more than the case would have anyway.

 this drill out performs my last one making that one look like just a wimpy screwdriver! checked a lot of reviews and decided on this drill even though I never heard of porter cable :) apparently, they have been around a real long time and have been the innovators of many of the first power tools around! nice to know! this is such a cool drill if you are having doubts just buy this thing!! feels solid and as good as a DeWalt or similar brand :) had it a few days and its great more than meets expectation and with it being bought here on amazon you can't go wrong! shipped super fast and they price matched the price that was on here a week ago! don't know why the price went up but since they credited me the difference was a no brainer. thanks amazon for such good products and customer service!! Makita XPH102 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 1/2" Hammer Driver-Drill Kit (3.0Ah)

My friend  metal roof contractor who has been using these Lithium-Ion drills since they first came out about 10 years ago. I put in about 2000 screws a day. The small batteries will put in at least 250 1-1/2 inch screws through metal and into wood. the larger batteries will put in at least 500. I still use the very first one I bought. The brake stopped working, but the drill still works, along with the batteries.

 I have dropped these drills off roofs and have never broken one. I have one drill that I am about to wear through the plastic on.Wearing away the drill itself may be the only way to destroy these things. My only complaint would be the high-low switch on the hammer drills starts to slip out of gear between high and low from repeated pounding. (I slam the screw down hard enough to start it through the metal) I put a short zippy screw though the switch to hold it in place. I highly recommend these.These drills would be a money maker for me, even if they cost $1,000.00 I have never had a tool that has worked so hard and lasted so long.
